It seems some people on the pro-life side believe that the mishandling of the cameraman incident was the reason there was such a large and hostile mob opposing the vigil on Friday night.
That may be the case, but I don't think so. Watching the soi-disant pro-choice social media, what I saw was that it was the courageous decision of Bishop Hope to attend which set them off.
There were instantly Twitter alerts, Facebook campaigns and so on, in response to that.
Some opine 40DFL should have withdrawn to nearby Church premises to avoid a confrontation. I don't agree. I think we are called to bear witness, and I think to allow us to be chased out of the public square would have been both a human and a spiritual mistake.
