The whole atmosphere was one of praying the Mass, rather than getting through it as quickly as possible.
That was enhanced as the Cathedral is celebrating 40 hours of Exposition and Adoration, so the altar was surrounded by beautiful white flowers and candles by the score.
Canon Shield also preached on the Lauda Sion, and in particular the astonishing fact of Christ's love for us being so great.
We are truly blessed to have this Mass available to us in our Cathedral on a regular basis. It would be even better if a few more people came...

Canon Shield is a well loved priest, who 'became known' for his piece in the US Latin Mass Magazine on his first Celebration of The Old Rite.
Wherever he was shuffled around the Diocese, he carried the TLM with him. Whilst at Carlisle, Our Lady & St. Joseph's [the church of mu upbringing of fond memory] he was not allowed to Celebrate there, but the Parish Priest at St. Bede's accommodated him and he, himself, then took over the reins for the TLM in that 'God Foresaken City'.
Canon Shield also organised Celebration of The Mass in Carlisle Cathedral. He is also an accomplished musician.
Were there more like him.
